Getting started: add Hana and set up your server in 10 minutes
Invite Hana, check her role position, and turn on the modules most servers want first: logs, AutoMod, welcome messages and leveling.
Hana works through slash commands, so there is nothing to install and no dashboard to learn first. This guide gets a typical community server from zero to protected and welcoming in about ten minutes.
1. Invite Hana
Use the Add to Discord button on this site and pick your server. You need the Manage Server permission on that server to see it in the list.
Hana can also be installed to your own account (the Add to your apps option). That lets you use her AI, downloads and fun commands in DMs and in servers where she isn't a member, but server features like moderation need the server install.
2. Move Hana's role up
Discord only lets a bot manage members and roles that sit below its own role. Open Server Settings → Roles and drag the Hana role above:
- every role she should hand out (level rewards, reaction roles, AutoRole, colors)
- every member she should be able to time out, kick or ban
Keep your owner and admin roles above Hana. See roles and permissions if something says "missing permissions".
3. Logs first
Make a private staff channel (for example #mod-log) and run:
/mod log-channelso moderation actions are recorded/logging setupfor message edits and deletes, joins and leaves, and role changes, then/logging configto pick events
Logs are what you'll want the day something goes wrong, so set them up before anything else.
4. Turn on AutoMod
Run /automod setup and follow the steps. It covers spam filters, the log channel and an account-age gate that stops brand-new raid accounts. The full walkthrough is in AutoMod setup.
5. Welcome new members
Run /greetings setup, pick a welcome channel and turn on invite tracking if you want it. Preview with /greetings test. To give new members a starter role, use /autorole add. Details: welcome messages and AutoRole.
6. Leveling (optional)
Run /levels admin setup, then add role rewards with /levels admin addreward. See leveling with role rewards.
