Warnings, timeouts, bans and ban appeals
How Hana records moderation cases, how to keep private staff notes, and how to accept ban appeals in their own channel.
Every moderation action in Hana becomes a case: who did what, to whom, and why. That history is what makes fair decisions possible later.
Set the channels
/mod log-channelrecords every action in a staff channel./mod appeal-channelis where ban appeals arrive.
The actions
| Command | What it does | Useful options |
|---|---|---|
/mod warn | Records a warning | dm to tell the member, proof attachment |
/mod timeout add | Times the member out | duration, reason, proof |
/mod kick | Removes them; they can rejoin | reason, dm |
/mod ban add | Bans them | duration for a temporary ban, purge_days, appealable, soft |
A soft ban bans and immediately unbans, which removes the member and their recent messages without keeping them banned.
Looking up history
/mod cases viewshows a member's cases./mod cases editcorrects a reason;/mod cases removedeletes a case made by mistake./mod cases exportsaves the full history as a text file, handy when someone appeals or when you hand over moderation.
Private notes
Notes are for context that isn't a punishment: "talked to them in VC", "possible alt of …". /mod notes add, /mod notes view and /mod notes export. Members never see notes.
Ban appeals
When you ban with appealable turned on, the member gets an appeal option in their DM. Appeals arrive in your appeal channel so staff can discuss them before unbanning with /mod ban remove.
Tip: Write reasons for the person reading them six months from now: what happened, where, and which rule. "Spam" is less useful than "posted 12 invite links in #general".
